Are there service costs to own a Ceiva?
There is a service fee for your Ceiva to connect each night and retrieve your pictures. Local connection service, where your Ceiva makes a local call each night, is priced at $79 a year or $7.99 per month. If there are no local numbers in your area, you can add Toll-Free service for an extra $49 per year. When will it be available outside of the United States?

What does the back of the Ceiva look like?
The Ceiva digital picture frame is a traditional wood frame with glass, matte paper and a cardboard back. There are connectors for a power adapter and a standard telephone connector. It also has two buttons. The black button controls the screen brightness. The white buttons controls simple function: the ability to display pictures one at a time manually or automatically as a slideshow and the ability to manually connect the Ceiva to www.ceiva.com to retrieve pictures.
What do I need to use Ceiva?
To view pictures on the Ceival digital picture frame, you only need a standard electric outlet and a standard telephone line. You do not need an extra telephone line or a pre-existing connection to the Internet. You simply need to plug in the power and telephone and you are ready to go. Each Ceiva picture frame must be registered to an account at www.ceiva.com in order for it to connect and retreive your pictures. A personal computer and access to the Internet is required to setup the Ceiva account, register the Ceiva picture frame and to send pictures to the Ceiva. The end user of the Ceiva, however, can easily enjoy receiving pictures without the need of a computer or an existing Internet account.

In order to be sure that you receive pictures only from people that you choose, we ask that all Ceiva owners and all friends and family become members at www.ceiva.com. To receive pictures or to send pictures you must become a member. It is easy and free. Click Join Now.
How do pictures get on to my Ceiva?
The Ceiva digital picture frame connects to www.ceiva.com each night automatically (you do not need to push any buttons) between the hours of 1:00am and 5:00am to retrieve your s. The telephone call lasts about 4-5 minutes for a 10 download. When your Ceiva connects, it looks to see if there are new pictures waiting in the "Next Delivery" section of your account. If there are new pictures, they will be downloaded onto your Ceiva. If there are already 10 pictures on your Ceiva, then the oldest pictures will be removed (and stored in your account at www.ceiva.com) to make space for the new pictures. You can lock pictures on the frame if you want them to be held on the frame and not replaced by new pictures.
Pictures are added to your account by uploading them from a personal computer via an Internet connection to www.ceiva.com.
How often does the Ceiva get new pictures?
The Ceiva connects automatically to www.ceiva.com once a day. In addition, you may force a connection manually by pressing and holding the white button on the back of the Ceiva.
Does it always have to be attached to the telephone line?
The Ceiva does not always need to be attached to the telephone line. It must be attached in order to retrieve your pictures. When it is not downloading your pictures (approximately 4-5 minutes in total) the Ceiva has absolutely no affect on your telephone line. We recommend leaving your Ceiva attached to the telephone line all the time for your convenience.
If I unplug the power do my pictures disappear?
The s currently stored on your Ceiva will remain on the Ceiva even if the power is disconnected. This means you can unplug the Ceiva and move it without losing the s that are currently stored on it. You will, of course, need to connect it to both an electric outlet and a telephone line in order to change it settings and retrieve new pictures.
Can anyone send me a picture ?
Only you decide who may send you pictures. To send pictures, your friends and family first must setup their account at www.ceiva.com. On your account at www.ceiva.com, you list the Ceiva members that you have given permission to send you s -- we call that your "Buddy List". This ensures your security and avoids the possiblity that you might receive unsolicited pictures.
Can I adjust the slideshow interval?
The Ceiva has the ability to display your 10 pictures in a slideshow format. The pictures will be rotated onto the display area one after another. You may determine how long each remains on the display before it is replaced by the next picture. This "slideshow interval" may be set at the your account on www.ceiva.com under your "Ceiva Settings".
How do I turn it off? Will it glow all night?
The Ceiva has no off switch -- when you plug it in, it is automatically on. At night, you may want to turn off its lamp so that it does not light your room. You may set a "picture off" and "picture on" time at your account on www.ceiva.com in the "Ceiva Settings" section. Remember, even though you may turn the picture off (so the Ceiva does not light a room) leaving it plugged in means it is on and will connect to www.ceiva.com to retrieve your pictures.
Can I save pictures on my Ceiva?
If there is a picture on your Ceiva that you want to keep on your Ceiva, then you may lock it onto your Ceiva. At your account on www.ceiva.com, you may look at the "Now Showing" section where you can select the d and lock it. By locking a picture, you will guarantee that it will not be displaced by a new picture.
Can I delete pictures from my Ceiva?
If there is a picture on your Ceiva that you do not want, then you may remove it from your Ceiva. At your account on www.ceiva.com, you may look at the "Now Showing" section where you can select the d and remove it. By removing a picture, you will guarantee that it will not appear on you Ceiva. Your Ceiva will need to connect to www.ceiva.com for this to take effect.
Can I print pictures from my Ceiva?
You cannot print picture directly from your Ceiva. You can go to your account at www.ceiva.com and select a picture and print from your browser. In the future, we will be providing print services directly from www.ceiva.com.
Where do my pictures go when they are removed from the Ceiva?
When new pictures are loaded onto your Ceiva, existing s may be removed in order to make room. pictures that are removed from your Ceiva are placed into the "Recently Removed" section of your account at www.ceiva.com. The system will store up to 30 recently removed pictures in this area. To keep a permanently, you need to select it and send it to one of your albums.
Can I use my DSL, Ethernet or other networks to connect?
Currently, Ceiva will connect only using a standard og telephone line. We are looking at a variety of additional connection technologies in future product versions.
Does it come in larger sizes? Different colors?
The Ceiva is currently available only in the standard black color with a picture area approximately 5"x7". We are continuing to develop future picture that will include a variety of new features. Please continue to visit www.ceiva.com for updates.
Does it support animated GIF files?
Currently the Ceiva support still images only.
Can I get pictures directly from my computer to my Ceiva?
The Ceiva connects directly to www.ceiva.com using a standard analog telephone line. At present there is no direct connection from a personal computer to the Ceiva. s can be easily uploaded to www.ceiva.com from your computer, downloaded to your Ceiva and stored for long term in your own personal picture albums.
Can I use it in my office?
The Ceiva connects to www.ceiva.com using a standard og telephone line. It can be connected in an office environment provided that this telephone connection can be provided. If your telephone line requires prefix dialing (example, "dial 9 for an outside line"), this may be configured at your account under "Ceiva Settings". Setting up your Ceiva in an office is very similar to setting up a fax machine.
